Tri Destined Films

Executive Biography

Before studying at Harvard University under the tutelage of David Wheeler and Dr. Susan Steinberg, Gregory Anderson was an Alumnus of the HBCU Florida A&M University where both his parents taught for over thirty years.  There Gregory received FAMU’s Distinguished Alumni award, the highest honor a graduate can receive from the institution. Writer, producer, distributor, and president of Tri Destined Films (with co-owners ND Brown and Trey Haley) Gregory Anderson has been called a part of the "new" Oscar Micheaux movement as a trailblazer for independent film distribution. As a writer, Gregory created Stomp the Yard, the #1 hit movie (2 weeks in a row), which has grossed over 100 million dollars in overall markets, including ancillary, making it one of the most profitable dance films of all time.

Gregory is currently working on Run Baby Run, based on the life of 1950’s gang warlord turned guru Nicky Cruz and Rhythm and Juliet for the John Davis Company / DJ Classicz, just to name a few.  Tri Destined’s upcoming film projects include the Rogue / Universal Pictures project Drill Team which they are set to produce with Offspring Entertainment, the producers of Step Up, Step Up 2, and Hairspray. Tri Destined also has recently finished shooting Why Am I Doing This, which is described by some as an Asian spin on Hollywood Shuffle. It was announced on HBO Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel that Tri Destined acquired the rights to the life story of Bev Kearney, track coach of the University of Texas. They are set to produce this project with Barry Katz of New Wave Entertainment (NWE) and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions.

In recognition of his community activism, The National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, an Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., which administers to over eight (8) million members and adjoining congregations, honored Gregory in 2007 with their Role Model Award.

While studying at Harvard University during the summers, Gregory, independently produced and theatrically distributed a film with called Trois. Soon after that release, he wrote, Co-Produced, and distributed Pandora’s Box, also highlighted in Variety and Hollywood Reporter’s Top Lists, which was eventually picked up by Columbia Tristar. The independent "theatrical" distribution of the Master P film Lockdown followed. After being one of the producers of the Sony Pictures Entertainment release Motives starring Vivica A. Fox, Gregory’s work as a writer and producer was then showcased in the Columbia Tristar release: Trois: The Escort. During that time, Anderson participated in the play: "Hunger and Thirst" at The Hasty Pudding Theatre, home of the oldest theater company in America. Through it all, Anderson stayed involved in community service projects. For many years he has been a motivational speaker, giving speeches at events including Walt Disney’s Compact Awards and the Martin Luther King Holiday Convocation.
